Bringing It All Together from Ezekiel 47
Ezekiel 47 gives us a powerful picture of spiritual growth: a river flowing from the temple of God, getting deeper and deeper the farther it goes.
In the first three blogs, we saw:
The danger of staying on the shore
The trap of only going knee or waist deep
The invitation to launch into the deep
This fourth reflection is a devotional invitation: wherever you are today – on the edge, knee-deep, or waist-deep – God is calling you to go deeper.
1. Remember Where the River Comes From
From the Presence of God:
The river in Ezekiel 47 flows from the temple, the place of God’s presence.
Your growth doesn’t start with your effort; it starts with His presence.
Not Self-Made, Spirit-Given:
You don’t have to manufacture living water in your life. The Holy Spirit is already flowing – your part is to respond and step in.
Devotional Thought:
“Lord, remind me that true life is found in Your presence, not in my performance.”
2. Be Honest About Where You Are Standing
On the Shore:
You believe, but you stay at a distance.
You watch others experience God deeply, but you keep “one foot in, one foot out.”
You may attend church, know the language, but avoid real surrender.
Knee-Deep & Waist-Deep:
You’ve said “yes” to God in many areas.
You pray, serve, maybe lead, but you still keep one hand on the bottom – you must still feel “in control.”
You’ve gone further than many, but not as far as God is inviting you.
Fully in the Deep:
The waters are over your head.
You can’t touch the bottom; you are carried by the current of God’s will.
Your prayer becomes, “Where You lead, I will follow” – even before you know the details.
Devotional Reflection:
Take a quiet moment and ask:
“Lord, am I on the shore, knee-deep, waist-deep, or fully surrendered in the deep? Show me truthfully, and give me courage to go further.”
Have a blessed week!
